Which to Watch on New Year's Eve?

Is Blake Shelton, Mr. 2011 himself, enough to get you to tune in to NBC instead of FOX tonight?

If you're like me this thirty-first, you're skipping the hundred dollar Hollywood cover charges and staying in with family and friends and a whole lot of bubbly.  So the next question is, without sounding too crass, which ball do we watch drop!?  We have dreamy Blake over on NBC with Carson Daly, but FOX's all country line-up includes darling DJ Tanner look-alike Lauren Alaina "live" (whatever that means) from Las Vegas, so what's a girl to do?

Obviously Blake's got to represent the network that's helped make him a household name north of the Mason-Dixon line and Lauren Alaina owes everything to American Idol's home network, so who's the tie-breaker here?  The Eli Young Band (pictured below), that's who!  Let me tell you about the Eli Young Band.  They sing Crazy Girl which I have already decided is going to be my wedding song.  I called it suckas--don't even think about it!  It's pretty much like, the best song in the world. The only thing that could make it better is if dreamboat and a half Keith Urban sang it.  Or wait, Darius Rucker! You all know how I feel about my Darius...

Anyway, the moral of the story is I can tune into Blake and CeeLo over on NBC any old night, so my vote is for Darius.  I mean the Eli Young Band.  I mean FOX.  For a complete guide to the country-at-midnight craze, check here.

5. i thought blake shelton's tattoo was fish swimming upstream, you know, as a sign of determination and perseverance, obvi. (i can't help it. i was an english major in college. my life was the explication of symbolism.) TURNS OUT, he's quite the outdoorsman, and this tat is actually a trail of deer tracks, you know, as a sign of staying focused and following your dreams, obvi. i can't turn it off!

i admit it. i've already broken my promise to never leave you postless for too long again. but i'm a big shot attorney now, and you're just going to have to love me for it. with that said, i've been living in a hotel suite near the courthouse downtown for the past 10 days while we're at trial, and suffice it to say i wish i were at home blogging away instead. thus, here are my two favorite escape songs for your listening enjoyment.

weekend update!

i didn't mean to be too good for prompt posts now that i'm a juris doctor and all. but this weekend was hectic for more reasons than my graduation: we survived yet another friday the 13th. darius rucker turned 45 (what!? he looks 35 max)! and miranda lambert and blake shelton tied the knot! i will have more detailed posts soon i promise. here are some adorable pics of country's royal couple--from their engagement party to be exact. as for wedding pics, we have to wait for this week's us weekly for those!

blake shelton on "the voice"

i caught some of the voice this past week, the newest singing competition show on tv (nbc to be exact, but of course, i caught a rerun of this ryan seacrest production on e!). four judges slash coaches decide the fate of these hopeful songbirds, who i will add are VERY impressive. and i don't dole out support on a regular basis, so that's saying something! on the episode i watched, there was just one girl that i'd call a bit pitchy, but everyone else could definitely kick some american idol butt!

anyway, the judges are christina aguilera, maroon 5's adam levine, cee lo green (of grammy feather suit fame), and our very own mr. miranda-lambert-to-be, BLAKE SHELTON! i'm so excited that country music is being represented in such a prime time way! in fact, nbc's executive vp of alternative programming, paul telegdy, said, "we couldn't have a panel that represented the hottest american music without a strong country presence." if that doesn't get a YEEEEE-HAW i don't know what does.

get ready for even more country fun when reba mcentire joins her good friend blake to help coach the talented wannabes. reba and blake co-hosted this year's academy of country music awards and, more importantly, are joining forces this month for a tornado relief concert in oklahoma. in fact, they recently added a second show when the first one sold out in less than 2 hours!
